Why are these words bothering me so so much tonight? It might just be the fact that I have heard them too much lately and am getting sick of them.
When I tell people Oscar has Down Syndrome the reply I 9/10 times receive is "I am so sorry".
Why? Why are you sorry?
Why is it that we expect things that we don't comleatly understand to be so bad that we have to appologise?
I just dont get it!
I know have felt this way but why?
When I first found out Oscar had Downs I was overwelmed but didn't really focas on the 'Downs' part, it was more Oscars bottom and heart I was worried about. As he started getting better, it really started hitting me hard.
Oscar wasn't EVER going to have a normal life.
Oscar wasn't going to learn anything.
Was this life even a life worth living?
As the months went by God changed my heart and the way I saw Oscar. He was always so full of joy! I realised....
Oscar will have a normal life as long as I allow him!
Oscar will learn, just in 'oscar' time!
Oscars life is SOOOOO worth it.
When people say "I am so sorry" I am scared they think all the things I did and it scares me.
It scares me because I want the world to know what a blessing Down Syndrome is. I want them to treat Oscar like any other child and I am terrified they won't.... simply because they dont understand.
Its OK to be differant! Thats what changes the world :)
I am sick of hearing "I am so sorry"
One day I hope the world becomes a place where you hear "You are soo lucky, what a blessing!"
Thats the way I feel about Oscar, its like winning the lottery a million times :)

I am so in love with this little boy, and his funny faces :)
