You have probebly seen it on the news, the reality of what so many people are living with right now. The devistion and destruction they are witnessing RIGHT NOW!
Nine dead. NINE! That is someone's mother. Someone's son. A Daddy. A little baby sister.... NINE human live's lost. And more expected....
A mother let go of her baby boy and watched him get swept away to die. A two year old baby boy! The same age as Oscar. Gone.
Just imagine the pain of his mother. Holding onto her helpless little boy in a rush of water and suddenly have him slip away from her arms.
Having to watch your child in a rush of muddy water, untill he finally dissappers into the floods.
Nothing, NOTHING, is going to bring that mumma comfort tonight.
Knowing she is going to sleep with nothing! Not even the hope of watching her child grow up.
My heart is with that mother....
And that is just ONE story!
One of thousands and thousands of sad, and heart breaking stories.
There are so many people left with absolutly nothing!
And we are here complaining we do not have a big enough house? Or we need a new phone? So many wants.... when they are left with nothing!
I have a mother, with a child with Down syndrome on facebook. Her child's medication is sent out from Brisbane when the floods are and right now there are no calls going through... thats just another small story that is breaking my heart!
PLEASE keep these people in your prayers!

The floods are so unreal. I can't believe how bad things have gotten in the last 24 hours! I am the mother who's daughter can't get her meds mentioned above. Our supermarket is almost out of essentials (heaps of chocolate left though!!). Samara is on a medication that has to be made up for her every 4 weeks. Our local hospital doesn't have the facilities to do this. So it is made in Brisbane and sent up to us here. (we are 6 hours inland in a small town of 7,000). Her current batch is about to expire. We don't know when the next lot will arrive.
ReplyDeleteOur yard is only a few inches under water. Most of the town is fine. It's just that the ground is so wet, there is nowhere left for the water to go! But right now we are living on a virtual island. Every road out of town is flooded. We don't know if we will be flooded again or not (we have been twice since Christmas), although it hasn't been severe. There were major floods here in March, and when it does flood here, it does so quickly. But for now, we are just thankful that we are safe.
Those down stream are really suffering. The death toll is now 10 with a little 4 year old boy being swept away while the rescuers were trying to save his family:( 78 are missing. The toll is almost certain to rise.
Actually, the toll is now 11. A man in Ipswich has just been confirmed dead:(
Brisbane, a city of 2 million is starting to evacuate. The flood waters are just reaching them now, and won't peak for a couple more days yet.
75% of Queensland has been declared a disaster area. That is a block of land the size of 8 average states in the USA. It is HUGE!
Please, pray for us all. Especially those who have lost loved ones, or are still waiting to hear if their friends and family are even alive.
